Growing Community Pride Across Baker — One Yard at a Time
Initiative Overview
The Best Yard in Baker initiative is a seasonal community beautification competition designed to celebrate neighborhood pride, encourage property upkeep, and recognize residents who help make Baker a more vibrant place to live.
Hosted by Future Seed, the initiative takes place three times each year during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Residents from across Baker’s five districts are invited to participate by nominating their own yard or recognizing a neighbor whose outdoor space reflects creativity, care, and community spirit.
More than a competition, Best Yard in Baker is an opportunity to bring neighbors together, promote positive community engagement, and highlight the everyday residents helping our neighborhoods thrive.
How the Competition Works
Seasonal Competition Schedule
The competition is hosted annually during:

Spring Competition — Registration in March | Judging in April

Summer Competition — Registration in June | Judging in July

Fall Competition — Registration in September | Judging in October
District Recognition
One District Yard Champion is selected from each participating district, recognizing outstanding yards throughout the community.
Overall Community Champion
Following official judging, community members are invited to participate in public voting to help select the season’s Overall Best Yard in Baker Champion. Community voting is incorporated into the final scoring process, allowing residents to celebrate and support the yards that inspire neighborhood pride across Baker.

Celebration & Recognition
Each competition concludes with a celebratory recognition event where district champions and overall winners are announced and honored. Winners may receive:
